I'm just gonna post as we go & see how it works....
The T's are working on word searches, & they have writing practice sheets w/ the same words, as well as a math worksheet. We have America, the Story of Us playing in the background. As of this moment, K & C are still sleeping. I think I'll print off some crosswords/word searches or something for them too. I'll also give them a list of websites to use - directing, rather than sitting back & see what they do. (They choose to play Roblox - which isn't a BAD thing, b/c K has learned SO much coding from it... I just want them to do more... & different things.)
Not only are we watching history, but we're learning science, too! They were just talking about how they inoculated against smallpox. We've also had conversations on "the rule of 9's" for addition. We're mostly reviewing things this week to see where exactly they are. I know they know a lot of things; I'm just not sure how much of what they do know.

Holey Moley!
I've been away far too long. I probably won't start back up in force until "school" starts back up in a couple of weeks... I want to do better at keeping records of all the cool stuff we do & learn this year. However, that being said, I wanted to note here that we have a new granddaughter! She was born this past Friday, July 29th & she's absolutely beautiful! She's teeny tiny - 5#10 at birth & was down to 5#3 on Sunday when they came home, but she's perfect! Her name is Lillith Jade. All the kids have gotten to see her except K - who was away at football camp when we went down there.
More to come...

I have been so horrible at keeping this up. Life happens, what can I say?

Week 5, Day 22
TS has been working on Starfall.com. She did stories 9 - 12 today. She's also been playing the keyboard we have set up in the schoolroom.
TC has done a set of "Holey Cards", been on Sheppard's Software, & played keyboard. She decided to write her own song this morning.
C has been on Roblox, talked on the phone to her oldest sister about gymnastics, & totally grossed her mother out by moving the bones & knuckle in her hand on command.
K has also been playing Roblox. He & C are kind of working cooperatively & "writing" their own little script/act/improv as they go along.
We've been watching TimeWarp on TV... Lots of Discovery Channel, lots of Science Channel, etc.

Week 5, Day 21
We leave in just a few minutes to get K's hand recasted. I think all the swelling is gone. He can, once again, straighten his fingers completely, as well as touch his thumb & ring fingers together. His cast is *looking* very loose!
I'll add more after we get home...
His hand is healing up nicely, but it's still recommended that he not play for another couple of weeks. We've reached a somewhat agreeable compromise.... He can practice - run the routes etc. as long as he's not catching & no scrimmaging. This way, he'll still be in shape, still up to date on all the plays, etc. so when he does come back, he should be able to work right back up to snuff pretty quickly.
When we got home, they turned on Discovery channel. They were watching MegaWorlds - talking about the grass field in AZ that rolls in & out of the stadium. They've also been DVRing Colony, so they sat down & watched that. I started asking questions, mostly b/c I've only seen little bits & pieces of it & I was curious.
I feel like we need to get back into a little bit of a routine, but life has been so crazy in the last couple of weeks, it's hard to. Between Dr's appointments, games, & practices, I'm not sure if I'm coming or going, let alone trying to figure out a routine!

Week 4, Day 16, 17, 18, 19, 20
Yesterday was a simple day.... The boys played the PS3 - a new game they bought - in the morning. We tried to go pick up CD's car in the afternoon from the auto repair place... no go... then we had a FIELD TRIP!!!! We all packed up & went to the area's state park!
We hiked one trail, although we did it separately. The kids went on ahead without us. We were tracking them by their shoe patterns. (It's dry enough that it was fairly easy to do.) We sat out on the fishing dock for a little while, played on the playground (mostly just the T's), & went to see the horses & find out how much it would cost to ride. *gasp, cough, choke, gag* Won't be happening any time soon, that's for sure!
It was a good day out. The kids had fun, we had fun, & we weren't sitting at home going, "What should we do?" =/
Today, we've been attacking the T's room, gathering library stuff, getting CD's car back, & all the other little joys that come from a busy life & a big family. Conversations are happening all over the place though.
I'm adding to this on Mon. Sept. 13. We had internet issues all last week, so I never made it *here* to finish posting anything.

Week 3, Day 13, 14, 15
We had an absolutely crazy week. K broke his hand at the first football game, so we've been dealing w/ that... getting X-rays, a cast, etc. & so forth. C had a chiropractor's appointment Wed. afternoon that we ended up being late to by about 45 minutes, b/c of the whole casting of the hand.
We've watched a lot of TV shows this week... Time Warp, Animal Planet miscellany, Dog Whisperer, Science Channel stuff.... C has still been working on Crossword Puzzles from USAToday.com. K has been helping her, too, & we've had an awful lot of laughs over it.
J took Friday off, b/c K had a football game in Ohio, that he didn't get to play in.... :[ He really missed getting to play... & the team really missed him. (He's one of the only receivers who actually KNOWS the plays, b/c he has studied the playbook & memorized all of them. Bit of a sore spot there....)
The T's have been practicing at the gym an extra amount, b/c I'm working so much right now, & if I'm not working, I stay b/c I don't want to waste the gas to drive home & drive back. =/
J will be home Monday as well for Labor Day. However, we'll still count our day of school, b/c I'm sure they can't go an entire day without learning something.
Anyway, that's enough for this post.
